We are hiring a 2024 Model Maker Intern Summer Intern to grow our Model Making team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are looking for smart, passionate, and creative students interested in a career in Model Making. What You Will Be Doing:
- Facilitate, coordinate, and engage in collaboration with Engineering, Design, others in Ideation processes
- Learn new processes and materials to demonstrate new ideas and prove feasibility
- Be taught to operate a variety of equipment effectively and safely relative to applied area of modeling
- Collaborate with Product Teams on prototyping and use of new and emerging materials and processes
- Provide input on the design and manufacturability of concepts, materials, and methods to cross functional areas
- Effectively communicate technical information to Engineering, Design, Testing and Quality and external customer base.
Your Future Team:
- Get to train and work with all areas of the model shop (wood, sheet metal, machining, 3D printing, general model making, welding, paint…), gaining a wide breadth of building experiences
Required Skills and Competencies:
- History of self-making projects, hands on work and general tinkering
- An enthusiastic attitude to work and learn
- Preferred to have experience with general shop tools. Welding, machining, painting and finishing experience would be beneficial.
- 1 year of technical schooling areas pertaining to Model Making or applicable work in art, industrial design, or engineering
