hi randy

I'm really interested in this opportunity, is this experience still available and if not would a similar opportunities be available again the the future?

I am currently a second year modelmaking student at Arts University Bournemouth looking to take a year sabbatical to gain work experience and skills.

thanks - Emilia

Some of our students here at Arts University Bournemouth have been interested by this. I'll encourage them to get in touch. Could be a lot of red tape for a UK student, but this sounds like a great opportunity...

I believe so, although travel back & forth would probably be negotiated. This internship does cover housing for the summer, (12) weeks.

Great opportunity!

Is there scope to sponsor a UK student for this internship?

2022 Model Maker Intern- Undergraduate

You can have an internship. Or you can make a difference. Or you can work at Herman Miller as a Model Maker Undergraduate Intern and make both.

About this Opportunity
Herman Miller’s Summer Internship Program is a paid, 12-week opportunity that provides a 100% real-world experience for students early in their career. Throughout the summer, you will apply academic learning to real-world situations and cultivate leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
As a Model Maker Intern, you’ll work with other Model Makers in Herman Miller’s internal Model Shop to build prototypes to specifications, bringing ideas to life from various raw materials using CAD and engineering drawings.

You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, influence others, and be an owner every day as you...
• Learn and work with a variety of technology used in the Model Making industry.
• Utilize various types of equipment and technology while working with 3D printing, woodworking, metal fabrication, and plastic fabrication.
• Rotate through the Model Shop to gain a variety of experiences.
• Build prototypes from 3D printing, full-scale mock-ups, and new product testing.
• Work with a cross-functional team to complete an intern project which will be presented to senior-level executives.
• Gain on-the-job work experience aligned with your career goals.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve our goals.
• Emphasis will be placed on team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.

Sound Like You?

You might be just who we're looking for if you are...
• Knowledgeable of 3D and CNC Machining Softwares (preferred)
• Passionate about building and making things.
• A self-starter who is reliable and motivated in your work.
• Detailed-oriented and a good problem solver.
• Knowledgeable and have some experience working with a variety of materials such as wood, metal, plastics, urethane, and painting.
• Able to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members.
