What we do:
The Lab Technician – Model Maker supports the Interiors Lab and participates in creating full scale interior mockups and prototype of the cabin interior. The role is responsible for setting up and running static, cycle, and pressure map test, and supporting UI/UX passenger trials.

The role involves constructing of prototype and flight test aircraft as well as incubating technology that will transition to the operations/production team in the long run. The lab technician interfaces with all technical development teams, including systems, interiors, flight technology, and airframe.

This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What you can do:
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend, manipulate, and create basic 2D drawings and 3D geometries using CAD
  • Ability to fabricate, modify and assemble sheet metal brackets, composite parts, and CNC machined aluminum
  • Ability to set up, run and collect data from static and cycle test equipment
  • Design mechanical / structural systems and products based on a set of given and derived requirements
  • Ability to interpret drawings or sketches and create functional parts from them
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, written instructions, etc
  • Create SOW, RFIs, RFPs and manage external suppliers to get prototype and mockups built
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Prepare project reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
  • Maintain relationships with key material and component vendors and provide technical support as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety / regulatory standards
  • Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in related field with technical course certification preferred
  • Minimum seven (7) years model making experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Experience modeling basic 2D and 3D CAD geometries
  • Experience in manipulation of sheet goods (e.g. plywood) in support of engineering prototypes
  • Experience operating basic machine shop tools such as manual lathe, manual mill, drill press, shear press, etc
  • Strong mechanical assembly experience, exposure to composite work, preparing and using bonding materials
  • Strong experience prototyping aircraft and/or automotive systems
  • Experience solving manufacturability/product assembly issues with engineering team
  • High-level of expertise in model making
  • Execute test plans/procedures, collect test data, and report results
  • Ability to organize, schedule, and resource plan projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints

CATIA experience preferred

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.

The per-hour pay range for this position is:
$65—$94.93 USD
