Client is dedicated to solving autonomous mobility challenges through rapid prototyping and innovative technologies.

We are seeking a versatile Model Maker with composite experience to join our team and support the development of rapid first-articles and prototypes.

In this role, you will work with a diverse range of technologies, including metalwork, composites, and additive manufacturing.

While prior broad experience is not required, a strong desire to learn and a customer-focused mindset are essential attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Composite Fabrication:
Utilize your expertise in composite materials, such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resins, to create high-quality composite components and prototypes.

Mold And Tooling Preparation
Take a hands-on approach in preparing prototype molds and tooling required for composite fabrication, ensuring precision and efficiency in the process.

Prototype Development
Produce prototypes independently while also supervising non-shop members to support their involvement in lab projects.

Setting Up Composite Capabilities
Collaborate with the team to establish and optimize composite facilities, including equipment selection and the development of standard operating procedures.

Shop Support
Act as the main point of contact for walk-in fabrication requests, ensuring seamless communication and execution of projects.

Equipment Operation
Safely operate and maintain various shop equipment, such as mills, lathes, shears, brakes, and bandsaws, to support the fabrication process.

Shop Cleanliness
Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the shop, creating a safe and organized working environment.

Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of experience in the fabrication or maker space, with preference given to candidates with composite, mold making or metalwork experience.

Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints, ensuring accurate execution of projects.

Excellent customer service mindset, committed to meeting internal customers' needs and delivering exceptional results.

Bonus Qualifications
Knowledge of JIRA, Solidworks, CATIA, and GD&T, enhancing the ability to collaborate effectively with the engineering team.

Experience in MIG and TIG welding, CNC operation, and additive manufacturing technology, providing added versatility in the shop.

Previous experience as a lab assistant or shop support role, demonstrating a willingness to contribute to various tasks within the shop
