Sparton Corp makes electromechanical devices for the defense industry.
Position Objective
Maker, Model I creates and constructs tools and parts in a variety of materials such as metal and plastic. Uses blueprints, drawings and/or CAD designs to create models according to established specifications. May perform minor repairs on model-making machinery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance to machine shop tooling and equipment in the model shop according to the preventative maintenance plan.
- Maintain shop to assure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a machine shop environment including operation upkeep, maintenance of machine shop equipment including lathe, mill, shear, brake, band saw, grinder and drill-press.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and CNC machining practices and set-up are a plus
- Must have hands-on experience with forming, bending and machining both metal and plastic materials
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and SolidWorks drawings
- Ability to fabricate and assemble production tooling, fixtures and prototype parts
