Duties
  • You will program and operate computer-numerical-control (CNC) machine tools, and utilize computers for part programming and input/output of production control data, able to do CNC programming utilizing CAD/CAM software.
  • You will discuss concepts of typical models with engineers, scientists, or technicians to determine use, operational characteristics, and configuration, and also may design the products or participate as a member of a design or development team.
  • You will select work methods and materials to be used to plan the sequence of operations on the basis of time schedules, tolerances allowed, strength of materials, mechinability, weldability, formability, rigidity, corrosion resistance, and friction.
  • You will perform complex fabrication and assembly, and assume the responsibility of the complete model by planning and coordinating the work of other employees assigned to the project.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
