This Role In Summary
Whirlpool is looking for qualified candidates for the role of Model Shop Supervisor in the Model Shop Team within the Cross Category Technology organization. This position is located at the St. Joseph Tech Center, MI. In this role you will provide prototype full scale models and components to support all aspects of Global Consumer Design activity.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supervise the model shop
- Partner with industrial designers and engineers
- Implement specific short term/ long term goals/ objectives
- Assign work requests to model makers
- Prioritize / balance the requests
- Provides technical consultation assistance to design group
- Deliver prototype parts to the requested quality levels (low fidelity to Hi-Fi complete models)
- Deliver prototype parts on time.
- Drive targeted process improvements
- Implement facility / people safety system within assigned model shop
- Manage people career growth plans
- Improving percentage of prototype requests completed on time
- Model shop efficiency measure
- Reducing quantity of outsourcing
- Safety (5S, Safety Audit findings, Accidents)
- People Excellence
- Improving teams competency levels
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5+ years of experience with physical prototyping process (including material, usage, tooling, techniques and finishes)
Preferred Skills And Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or design or journeyman's certificate in this trade
- 2+ years of People management and developing employees
- Experience with Process Improvement & Lean
