Minimum qualifications:
- 10 years of experience as a prototype machinist.
- 5 years of experience with 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Experience with G-code editing, canned cycles, and integrated probing systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of people management experience in model shop environments.
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement techniques to improve output, quality, cost and delivery while ensuring design intent.
- Experience with CNC automation equipment, and knowledge of manual and CNC machining techniques.
- Ability to interact with cross-functional teams spanning all organizational levels.
- Outstanding mechanical aptitude and spatial ability.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, coupled with a focused attention to detail.
About The Job
In this role, you will be working with the Google Hardware Design team to produce prototypes of concepts and upcoming products. This will include fixture design and setup, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine programming, setup, and operation. You will set up, run and maintain complex machines and orient, train, and review the work of a team of machinists. You provide support for machining operations of products and assemblies using manual and/or CNC machine tools, drive design project priorities in alignment with the larger project goals, coordinate allocation of resources within the design project, and guide team members. You will serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues within a design project.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$208,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Deliver improvements in design based on stakeholder input and provide guidance and expertise to effectively engage stakeholders on product design to achieve product goals.
- Resolve high complexity challenges as they arise by helping teams build new and/or utilize existing processes, procedures, methods, tests, or components, leveraging and/or challenging industry best practices and building awareness of new or emerging trends which may come from paradigms.
- Combine advanced software tools with machine tools leveraging the latest techniques in fabrication.
- Create safety protocols for new processes and equipment. Conduct training with all personnel who will utilize the new processes and equipment.
