Safdie Architects is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial, and detail-oriented individual to join our world class model making studio as a Digital Fabricator / Designer. Digital Fabricators and Model designers work closely with teams to explore the spatial, tectonic and material properties of designs through the planning and production of digital, 3D printed, fabricated and handcrafted models, as well as scale mock-ups.

The Digital Fabricator / Designer role and responsibilities include:
- interfacing with both our architectural teams and our senior model makers
- offering creative solutions to challenges imposed by the model making process
- processing of digital materials produced by our architectural teams in preparation of fabrication, including preparing laser cutter and 3D print files
- fabricating the pieces themselves
- troubleshooting any unforeseen problems that may arise
- running and maintaining digital fabrication tools
- leading or being involved in the development of new model making techniques and having responsibility over updating and documenting our digital fabrication processes as they evolve
- Passion for model making, ideally with prior experience or a background in architecture
- Experience operating digital tools such as laser cutters and 3D printers
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Autocad, Revit, Rhino and Adobe Suite
- Machine tool experience is a plus
- Authorization to work in the United States
Some of the skills, qualities and interests we are looking for include:
- Passion for model making, ideally with prior experience or a background in architecture
