This is a full-time prototyping and production role for the fabrication of industrial design and engineering models.
The Fresco Design model shop works collaboratively with client teams to prototype and test new products, design variations, new manufacturing concepts, explore new materials, color options, and develop relationships with suppliers and vendors, etc. We create high-quality finished appearance models, working models with electrical/mechanical integrations, rapid prototypes, manufacturing fixtures, hard-soft-goods integrations, short runs prototypes and small batch production.
Our shop consists of a 3D printing room, a workshop with CNC and woodshop equipment, paint room, soft goods, and clean assembly areas.
Responsibilities/Qualifications
• This is a prototyping and production role for the fabrication of design models
• Follow good shop and equipment safety practices
• Industrial design knowledge a plus
• Extreme attention to detail and craftmanship
• Operate wood shop tools
• Operate, maintain, repair in-house SLA and FDM 3D printers
• Experience/Interest in painting and finishing prototypes with spray finishing techniques including priming, painting and clear coating using acrylic and urethane products
• 3D printing and prototype building: Working on 3D printers (FDM, Formlabs, etc.) and maintaining printer area, removing supports, sanding, priming, washing/curing prints
• Shop maintenance and setup: keep materials stocked, order parts, keep equipment in good order, maintain organization, etc.
• Work with vendors & suppliers holding them accountable to contracts, deliverables, and the highest standards in industry in a collaborative manner
• CNC programing for multiple media using Fusion360
• 3D model assembly preparation and editing for model making using Rhino3D, Fusion360 and Solidworks. Expert modeling skills are not expected.
• A love of learning and an open mind towards new design processes and tools
• Daily written and visual documentation in project logs/communication for client updates
• Responsibility and accountability to work on a fast-paced environment with actively well-managed productivity, efficiency, and deadlines
• The role requires lifting up to 75 pounds

Marlborough, MA – on-site position
Studio is located within walking distance of downtown Marlborough, 15 minutes to Mass Pike, 5 minutes to Rt 495.

Education Requirement:
College degree or equivalent level of proficiency with technology, and written communication, with experience using shop equipment OR graduate of a trade school/shop program.
