Now Brewing - Model Maker! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As part of the TRYER Innovation Center team you will be part of a team taking concepts from idea to action in 100 days, by creating high quality prototypes to assist in the rapid testing and evaluation of future Starbucks concepts and designs. You will be primarily responsible for managing the TRYER Workshop and leading the production of prototypes.

As a model maker, you will…
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the TRYER workshop and equipment
  • Operate TRYER workshop equipment including 3D printers, CNC mills, CNC lathe, and CNC routers to produce prototypes
  • Work on prototype requests, evaluate their manufacturability, and develop prototype production schedules that support the goals of the project request
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to select appropriate prototyping methods and materials for each request
  • Use CAD and CAM software to support design and manufacture of prototypes
  • Work on multiple concurrent prototyping jobs to meet project timelines
  • Assist with outsourcing of prototype jobs to external suppliers whenever appropriate
  • Procure materials and tools required to support prototype production and operation of the workshop
  • Work within all shop safety standards and regulations including wearing safety equipment as required, complying with safety guidelines and procedures, and ensuring compliance of others

We’d Love To Hear From People With
  • Experience in running and maintaining CNC machines: mills, lathes, and routers
  • Experience in working with general woodworking equipment including, but not limited to, saws, drills, routers, and planers
  • Experience working with G-code, CAM, and CAD software (Fusion 360 preferred, but experience with other software packages considered)
  • Experience in running and maintaining 3D Printers
  • Ability to work with engineers and designers to proof concepts, troubleshoot problems, and create finished and functional prototypes
  • Experience and knowledge of full spectrum of model and prototype development such as: 3D printing, functional prototypes, and full appearance models with aesthetic finishes matching production-level appearance
  • 5S training and experience
  • Ability to work independently, with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
