I just saw a job posting on LinkedIn for a Design Fabricator at Ford. However, the job was to "fabricate" digital files. While this is a legit job for a model maker with experience in CAD, I think the job title is confusing. People who make models, exhibits, engineering prototypes, film props and sets could be described as Design Fabricators, Design Visualizers, Design Implementers and maybe others? I feel like if the job is exclusively digital, there might need to be a "Virtual" or "Digital" chucked in there somehow. Does anybody else think that Design (something) is a good description for Model Makers? |
