Hey Terry,

Check out Loctite HY4070, you can find it on Amazon. We use it for a lot of our projects.

We've also done a lot of testing on glue joints with that adhesive in house. You can see the results here:https://forerunner3d.com/3d-printing-glue-strength-guide/

Let me know if you have any questions,

Thomas & Nick,

Thanks for your responses. We're using both of your suggestions. My engineer designed two bosses to mount against the wall while also putting a footprint down on the length of the upper pallet leg within the confines of the tank's inner wall. I ordered a tube of the Loctite Ultimate Grabber. The bosses are printing on the spoolers and will be ready when I open up in the morning.

Terry,

I don't have an adhesive suggestion, but I do have an design one.

I'd suggest you cut a groove into the pallet, and add a matching extended tab on the bottom of the tank.
The additional surface area would strengthen the joint - in addition you could add a bar of reinforcement on the inside of the tank - this bar would also go into the pallet.

Attached is an photo of the idea.

If it's possible, the parts could be shipped disassembled and put together (with repeatability) at the final location.

Terry,

You might take a look at Loctite Power Grab Ultimate construction adhesive. We actually just used some yesterday on a model that will be traveling the country from trade show to trade show...

Lord Adhesive also has a lot of great sign industry products but they can be pricey and require their own 4-1 plunger applicator.

Hope that helps.

Hey Everyone,

We're working on a 1/12 scale project that has a 6" diameter x 6" high 3D printed 850 gallon day tank model that will be attached to a brass pallet. Wall thickness of the tank base is .0625". We're looking for an adhesive that will make a strong bond that will not fail when the model is traveling the country from trade show to trade show. I have thought about printing two inner ring sections out of PLA to affix to the inside of the
tank where it meets the brass. The mesh would increase the attachment locations.

I have added two PDF's taken from the CAD as well as a PDF of the prototype.

We have tested BSI's IC-2000 which is a rubber impregnated CA. I don't trust the joint enough to use the IC-2000. I'm also looking at Loctite 406. I have yet to try it but I've heard good things about it.

Does anyone have a tried and true suggestion or recommendation?

Cheers,
