You can have an internship. Or you can make a difference. Or you can work as a Model Maker Intern at Herman Miller and do both.

About this Opportunity

Herman Miller’s Summer Internship Program is a paid, 12-week opportunity that provides a 100% real-world experience for students early in their career. Throughout the summer you will apply academic learning to real-world situations and cultivate leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

As a Model Maker Intern, you’ll work with other Model Makers in Herman Miller’s shop to build prototypes and bring ideas to life from raw materials, CAD, and other types of drawings.

What You’ll Do

You’ll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as you…
•Learn and work with a variety of technology used in the Model Making industry.
•Build models from 3-D printing all the way to full scale and new product testing.
•Develop and/or build models, prototypes, and mock-ups to meet internal customer objectives.
•Utilize various equipment and technology while working with 3-D printing, metal fabrication, and plastic fabrication.
•Make a variety of component parts, sheet manufacturing, and forming.
•Rotate throughout the Model Shop to gain experience.
•Take strong ownership for your projects in a fast-paced environment.
•Participate in cross-functional teamwork to complete an intern project.
•Attain on-the-job work experience aligned with your career objectives.
•Perform additional responsibilities as needed to achieve business objectives.

Sound Like You?

You might be just who we’re looking for if you are…
•Passionate about building.
•A self-starter who is reliable and motivated in your work.
•Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
•Attentive to detail with strong finishing skills.
•Outgoing with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
